How often should you workout?

Modern day life is hectic for almost everyone. Keeping up with your workout regime along with maintaining your professional life and your personal life can get tough at times. However, working out and exercises helps your body to burn all the extra calories and strengthens your entire body by keeping it fit and healthy. There are many types of workout people can opt for in order to keep themselves fit and healthy like running, jogging, dancing, aerobics, martial arts, swimming, etc. Being physically fit and active comes with a lot of health benefit. But, the main question is how often should you workout in order to keep yourself healthy. The answer varies from person to person, but these are the average standard counts for working on the basis of a workout regime:


Cardio is one of the most important forms of working out, and it helps in blood circulation in one's body along with utilising more oxygen. It also helps your body's endurance power along with toning down your overall frame. While 150 minutes of cardio by an average human being is considered optimal, it is recommended to get a check with your physician before attempting it. Dividing the total amount of the minutes depends on each person individually. 

Muscle Training

Muscle training helps to strengthen your core and helps to enhance your metabolism.  This includes the right amount of pushing and pulling of the body. This training should be done between 2 to 3 times a week with each session comprising of 45 to 60 minutes. Flexibility workout can be included in the warm-up and during the activities to make sure you are finishing the full range of the action.

Rest Days

Take 2 days of rest in the week. But that day should not be spent on your bed or your couch. Take recovery activities like restoring yoga classes or a walking session. Try to give your body the right mix of rest and workout on your rest days.

These are just standard ways of workout regimes, but it varies from person to person depending on various factors like body type, your training type and your capacity. For beginners, the amount of workout time can differ and can be less than the average standard, whereas, for fitness enthusiasts, the time may increase. All these different types of factors are relevant and have to be weighed before giving any rational training ideas.
